We support the learning needs of our students and community.
The µÚÒ»³Ô¹Ï Learning Commons is home to Library, Testing, and Tutoring services. We provide a welcoming, supportive space for students, employees, and community members to access resources, collaborate, and engage in learning activities.

What you need to do?

Library

  • Find books, ebooks, and DVDs
  • Dive into research
  • Ask a librarian a question
  • Access library services for faculty and staff

Testing

  • To schedule a placement test, you can call, register online, or stop by the Learning Commons. (*Must have applied and been accepted to ACM before registering for the test.)
  • Follow your instructor's instructions on when a classroom or make-up exam is available and come in during that timeframe. 
  • Make arrangements with your instructors and contact the Testing Lab if you need to use, or have a question about scheduling use of, an accommodation approved by the ACM Academic Access & Disability Resource office.
  • Make sure you have a valid photo ID with you!

Tutoring

What do we do?

Library

  • Provide access to thousands of books, ebooks, periodical articles, and other research tools.
  • Present library instruction sessions for classes and individuals.
  • Offer a variety of study spaces to individuals and study groups.
  • Provide access to desktop PCs, laptops, and printing for usage while visiting the Learning Commons.

Testing

  • We provide Classroom Testing and Placement Testing. Specialized testing is provided by appointment.

Tutoring

  • We have student and professional Learing Specialists available to assist students with assignments and studying.
  • We provide online tutors for those who can’t make in time to see a tutor or need help with a late night question.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • How do I get a library card?
    Any student, employee, or adult community member with a  local address and valid  identification can request a library card. All cards must be picked up in person.
  • Can I use online databases from home?  Students and ACM Employees can access databases from home by using their email log in credentials. 
  • Can I reserve a study room?
    Yes. The Cumberland Campus Learning Commons has a conference room that can be reserved by calling Library staff at 301-784-5269.
  • How do I find a book?
    Search the Online Catalog from the . Contact the Library for assistance.
  • How do I prepare for the placement test?
    Official Web-Based Study App features online practice tests and tutorials in Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics; Advanced Algebra and Functions; and Reading. Be sure to select the Next Generation option.
  • What if I can’t make it to a study lab?

    Try our Online Tutoring
    Hours: 10am to 4am (the next day) seven days a week. Contact the Tutoring Coordinator at swilson@allegany.edu to request an appointment for virtual assistance during open study lab hours.
